BIOGRAPHY

Artist biography

Lim Zisin’s primary medium is paper, which she meticulously transforms through folding, sculpting, drawing, cutting, and piercing. Using delicate lines, and pure shapes, she carefully manipulates light and shadow to show off the fragile and fleeting aesthetic of her works. Zisin, held her first solo show at The Gallery Hotel and severs group shows in different galleries, had pursued her diploma in Painting and Drawing at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and BA(HONS) in Painting and Drawing at University of Huddersfield (UK)

I have been working within the limitations of the frame together with the flatness of surfaces in both painting and drawing. Over the years, I continued my explorations on how to make interesting artworks within the limitation of frame – without the use of drawing and painting materials I ended up with pierced forms. Most of the artworks that I produced were mainly pure forms for aesthetic pleasure. I want viewers to concentrate on the materials, techniques and the physical appearance of the works. The most important medium and tool I use are paper and a knife cutter.
